What is bee propolis?
Propolis is a sticky, resinous material that honeybees (Apis mellifera) make by mixing plant resins with their own secretions and beeswax. In the hive it serves as a sealant for gaps and cracks. A tincture is made by steeping the raw propolis in liquid to draw out its compounds, and the 1:4 ratio describes how much propolis went into the finished liquid.
