Lycopene is a carotenoid that gives tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables their red colour. One capsule contains 10 milligrams of pure lycopene extracted from ripened, organically grown tomatoes. Lycopene is the carotenoid responsible for the bright red color of berries, watermelons, papayas, bell peppers, and tomatoes. Tomato oleoresin contains 6% lycopene. Other natural compounds such as tocopherols, which have significant antioxidant activity, are also found in tomato oleoresin.
