How It Works
How It Works
NAC converts to cysteine in your body, which then combines with glutamic acid and glycine to produce glutathione. This master antioxidant scavenges free radicals and supports your cellular defense systems. Unlike direct glutathione supplements, NAC crosses cell membranes effectively.
Who It's For
Active individuals seeking cellular protection from exercise-induced oxidative stress. People in urban environments exposed to pollutants. Adults focused on liver health and respiratory wellness.
Who It's Not For
Not suitable for children or pregnant women. Those on blood thinning medications should consult their healthcare provider first.
About This Product
Natural Factors N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC) gives you 500 mg of N-acetyl-L-cysteine in each vegetarian capsule, with nothing else on the medicinal side of the label. Helps to relieve symptoms of chronic bronchitis.
What is N-acetyl-L-cysteine?
Cysteine is a sulphur-containing amino acid found in protein foods such as poultry, eggs and legumes. NAC is the same amino acid with an acetyl group attached, a change that makes it more stable as a supplement. Once absorbed, the body can use cysteine as one of the three building blocks of glutathione, an antioxidant that cells make for themselves.
Key features
- 500 mg NAC (N-acetyl-L-cysteine) per capsule
- Single-ingredient formula
- 90 vegetarian capsules
- Gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free and non-GMO
Why NAC and not plain cysteine?
Plain L-cysteine oxidizes easily when exposed to air. The acetylated form holds up better in a capsule, which is why NAC is the form most often chosen for supplements.
