Natural Factors Vitamin B3 Nicotinic Acid 100 mg
Vitamin B3 comes in two different forms; niacin and niacinamide. Both of these possess the same vitamin activity, but sometimes, niacinamide is preferred due to a reaction to niacin that many people experience. The reaction is called a "niacin flush" and causes the skin to temporarily become red, or feel warm and tingly. Niacinide also contains more triglyceride and cholesterol lowering properties. However, unlike niacin, niacinamide is not recommended for problems of the circulatory system.
Niacin is essential for metabolism of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. It has a significant effect on blood cholesterol levels when taken in large amounts, and it is believed to be able to prevent cholesterol in the liver from secreting into the circulatory system. Niacin also increases your body's level of lipoproteins, known as the "good cholesterol" and is a powerful preventative for cardiovascular disease, hypercholesterolemia, atherosclerosis.
