About This Product
Organika Kids Replenish Electrolytes in Very Berry is an oral rehydration solution dosed for children from 1 year old, in 20 single-dose sachets. Oral rehydration solution to prevent dehydration and restore fluids and electrolytes lost in case of diarrhea and/or vomiting. Each sachet makes 250 ml of solution.
What Organika Kids Replenish Electrolytes is licensed for
It is licensed for sale by Health Canada and bears NPN 80130331. The licence lists two recommended uses:
- Oral rehydration solution to prevent dehydration and restore fluids and electrolytes lost in case of diarrhea and/or vomiting.
- Helps to maintain hydration status in cases of acute diarrhoea and/or vomiting.
Why an oral rehydration solution
When a child loses fluids, water alone does not replace the salts that go with it. An oral rehydration solution combines sodium, potassium, chloride, citrate and glucose at a set concentration. The glucose helps the gut absorb sodium and water together, which is why the sachet must be mixed with exactly 250 ml of water. Kids Replenish is made for these moments, not for everyday hydration.
What's in each sachet
The medicinal ingredients are sodium (from sodium chloride and trisodium citrate), potassium (from potassium chloride), chloride, citrate and glucose. Very Berry is flavoured with natural berry flavour and blueberry juice powder and sweetened with stevia leaf extract, so it tastes better than unflavoured solutions, which matters when a child needs to keep sipping.
How to give it
Dissolve the entire sachet in 250 ml of drinking water and stir or shake before each use. Give it 1 to 2 times per episode of diarrhea and/or vomiting:
- Children 1 year: 50 ml per time, up to 1 litre in 24 hours.
- Children 2 to 9 years: 100 ml per time, up to 1 litre over 8 to 24 hours.
- Children 10 and over: 200 ml per time, up to 1 litre in 24 hours.
The full cautions are under How to Take, including when to consult a health care professional first.
