About This Product
Formerly Omega-3 Triple Strength: new look, same formula
Vitasave Omega-3 Extra Softgel was formerly sold as Vitasave Omega-3 Triple Strength. The formula, dose and NPN (80078168) are unchanged. Only the name and label are new, so if you've been taking Omega-3 Triple Strength, this is the same product.
Vitasave Omega-3 Extra Softgel is a high-potency fish oil made in Canada. Each softgel holds 1,000 mg of fish oil with 300 mg EPA and 200 mg DHA. At the recommended three softgels a day, that's 900 mg EPA and 600 mg DHA, or 1,500 mg of omega-3s from 3,000 mg of fish oil. Omega-3 fatty acids help support heart and brain health and contribute to the maintenance of good health.
Benefits
- Heart health: helps support and maintain normal heart and cardiovascular health and function.
- Healthy triglycerides: helps reduce blood triglyceride levels and helps maintain normal blood triglyceride levels.
- Brain health: helps support and maintain cognitive health and brain function.
- Daily wellness: a source of omega-3 fatty acids for the maintenance of good health.
What EPA and DHA are
EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) are the two long-chain omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil. They're the reason most people take fish oil. Fatty fish is the main food source, and a supplement is a simple way to get a consistent amount every day.
How to read a fish oil label
The big number on the front of many fish oil bottles is the total fish oil, not the omega-3 inside it. What matters is how much EPA and DHA you get per softgel and per daily dose. Here's how this bottle adds up:
| Per softgel | Per daily dose (3 softgels) | |
|---|---|---|
| Fish oil | 1,000 mg | 3,000 mg |
| EPA | 300 mg | 900 mg |
| DHA | 200 mg | 600 mg |
| Total EPA + DHA | 500 mg | 1,500 mg |
When you compare omega-3 supplements in Canada, line up the EPA and DHA per daily dose rather than the fish oil total. You can compare options side by side in our omega-3 and fish oil supplements collection.
