BodyHealth PerfectAmino Powder Lemon Lime is an essential amino acid drink mix. Each 6.85 g scoop holds 5 g of BodyHealth's PerfectAmino blend and stirs into water for a tart citrus drink. The tub weighs 205.5 g and holds 30 scoops. BodyHealth makes the powder in seven flavours, and lemon lime is the sharpest and most citrus-forward of the five we stock.

What's in a scoop of PerfectAmino Lemon Lime?

The 5 g blend contains the nine essential amino acids, the ones the body can't make and has to get from food. Leucine is listed first, followed by valine and isoleucine, the three branched-chain amino acids, then lysine, phenylalanine, threonine, methionine, tryptophan and histidine. Seven nucleic acid building blocks come after them: uridine, adenosine triphosphate, thymidine, adenine and three deoxynucleosides. Essential amino acids are involved in muscle protein synthesis, the process the body uses to build and repair protein.

The flavour system is short. The label lists citric acid from cassava, natural flavours, stevia leaf extract (Reb M), monk fruit extract and katemfe fruit extract. There's no sugar on the ingredient list, and BodyHealth says the powder contains no erythritol, sucralose, aspartame or other artificial sweeteners.

How to mix it

The label's suggested use is 1 scoop, 1 to 3 times daily, mixed with 12 to 20 oz of water, which is about 355 to 590 mL. Use the larger amount of water if you find the citrus too strong. It dissolves in a shaker bottle or a glass with a spoon, and it also works poured over ice. At one scoop a day, a tub lasts a month. If you take two or three scoops, spread them through the day, for example one in the morning and one around training.

Powder or tablets?

A level scoop gives you 5 g of the PerfectAmino blend, the same amount as 5 PerfectAmino tablets. The powder suits people who'd rather drink their amino acids than swallow tablets, or who want something to sip during a workout. The coated PerfectAmino Tablets are the unflavoured option for travel and gym bags.

Who it suits

The label calls PerfectAmino a vegan dietary supplement that is gluten- and dairy-free and paleo- and keto-friendly. That makes it a fit for plant-based eaters who want essential amino acids without whey, and for people training with weights who want a light drink between meals. It is made in a cGMP-certified facility for BodyHealth.com, LLC in Florida.
