Estrosmart is a one of our most popular lines of women’s health products. This line was formulated by Lorna Vanderhaeghe, a women’s health expert and talk show host at Ask Lorna Live on Voice America. She created Estrosmart for any woman experiencing symptoms of PMS, and other more serious health issues. There is even a product safe for women with breast and ovarian cancer. So, you might be asking: "Which one is right for me?"
Here’s some helpful information to help guide you along the way:
Who is Estrosmart designed for? Both of these products are ideal for women who have not yet begun menopause. Estrosmart addresses pesky PMS symptoms, such as acne, tender breasts, cramping, mood swings, nausea, heavy bleeding or migraines. The products are also created for women with other health issues like endometriosis, PCOS or ovarian cysts, fibrocystic breast disease, weight problems or uterine fibroids. What’s the difference between Estrosmart and Estrosmart Plus? Estrosmart Plus contains two additional ingredients compared to Estrosmart: 80mg of Vitex (Vitex agnus-castus) and 6mg of elemental zinc. Vitex, also known as Chaste Tree, is an herb that works through the pituitary gland and treats imbalances in the female reproductive system. Vitex indirectly increases the body's amounts of progesterone to regulate the menstrual cycle, promoting ovulation and fertility. The ingredient has also been used for reducing fevers, encouraging breast milk and treating snake bites! One of the reasons lovely Lorna offers you two products is because of Vitex's progesterone raising capabilities. Progesterone can convert to testosterone and estrogen in the body. This means that Vitex should not be used by women who have or who have had breast cancer regardless of whether it is progesterone receptor positive or estrogen receptor positive. For everyone else, Vitex can actually help prevent some cancers and is a valuable addition to this formula. Women who have had breast cancer can safely use Estrosmart but it is always advisable to check with your health care practioner prior to using any product. On Lorna's website, a woman asked her if taking Estrosmart was helpful for someone who already has breast cancer. This was her reply:
"…. If you have breast cancer you should be taking Estrosmart. If it is estrogen receptor positive then you would take 6 to 10 capsules per day. It can be taken along with Tamoxifen and other estrogen blocking drugs as well. Read the other posts in this breast cancer section to see what else you should take."What are the ingredients in Estrosmart?
- Calcium D-Glucarate: A very effective detoxifier of excess hormones from the liver.
- Indole-3-Carbinol: Found in cruciferous vegetables. I-3-C is an anti-cancer nutrient that can help break down carcinogenic estrogens, protect against HPV related cervical lesions and control abnormal cell growth.
- Decaffeinated Green Tea Extract: A potent antioxidant and metabolism booster.
- Turmeric: An anti-inflammatory herb that stimulates phase 2 detoxification in the liver. This allows for proper removal of toxins and excess hormones.
- Diindolylmethane (DIM): A by-product from the breakdown of I-3-C in the body. 50mg of DIM has been added to both formulas to further encourage the breakdown of carcinogenic estrogens to non-toxic forms.
- Rosemary Extract: An antioxidant and carrier herb that enhances to absorption of the other ingredients.
- Sulforaphane: From the patented Broccophane extract made from broccoli sprouts. It is a cleansing, sulphur containing compound that stimulates the detoxification enzymes that can eliminate xenoestrogens. Xenoestrogens are harmful chemicals often from plastics and pesticides that mimic estrogen in the body causing estrogen dominance and other hormone imbalances.
The dosages for Estrosmart and Estrosmart Plus is 2 capsules daily with food for women who are preventing disease or treating milder PMS symptoms. Any woman with more serious concerns, such as cysts, fibroids etc can take 4 capsules daily with food.
