Why Alkaline Water Is Necessary for Long-term Health

It seems like every week there is a new diet trend that is taking over the wellness community. Some of them have generally good ideas, but wouldn’t be ideal to follow for a long period of time. As health educators, we believe that everyone is unique and therefore there is not a one-size-fits-all diet that can be applied to the masses.

There are, however, a few key health-points that we believe will benefit everyone. One of our top tips is to eat a more alkaline diet. Some of you may be thinking: what the hay is an alkaline diet?? Well, to put it simply: start by adding more veggies to your plate. Focus on foods with a high amount of nutrients like: kale, spinach, avocado, nuts, seeds, mushrooms, citrus, dates, raisins, grapefruit, tomatoes, cucumber, jicama, wheat grass, broccoli, oregano, garlic, ginger, green beans, endive, cabbage, celery, red beet, watermelon, figs and ripe bananas. All of these foods will contribute to your body’s mineral stores, which is very important for long-term health.

Why is eating an alkaline diet important? It helps protect our bones, teeth, organs and muscle mass. This way of eating also supports our immune system, lowers inflammation and can help you maintain a healthy weight. The combination of stress and a poor diet (high in sugar, hydrogenated oils, and meat) shifts our body to a more acidic state (stripping our body of minerals), which is what often leads to health conditions like high cholesterol, cancer, hypertension, and stroke.

One of the best (and easiest) ways to help support our body reduce its acidity is by drinking alkaline water. Alkaline water has added minerals, which assist to increase your body’s alkalinity. Our favorite way to have alkaline water at home? The Santevia Water system. Since tap water is stripped of all its valuable minerals during the cleaning process, Santevia has built-in mineral rocks that add minerals to every glass of water. Along with its top of the line filtration system,

Santevia water adds the necessary minerals that your body craves.

Whether you have a large family and prefer a counter-top filter, or you enjoy the convenience of a pitcher – there is a filter that will fit your needs.

Will you be traveling soon? Santevia also has power sticks that you can place in your water bottle to filter out unwanted debris as well as add in the necessary minerals.
