For Those Who Have No Time For Breakfast : Goji Berry Chia Seed Pudding
No time for breakfast? Maximize your mornings by preparing this simple 5 minute, nutrient packed goji berry chia seed pudding recipe the night before.
If you’re like the rest of modern day society and find yourself with barely enough time to brush your teeth in the morning, it’s likely that you skip breakfast on occasion or stop at your local coffee shop or bakery for a quick grab ‘n’ go more than a few times a week. Unfortunately, the ‘on-the-go’ options are quite limited in the health department even if they are marketed as being “healthy”. Too often these items are loaded with refined sugar and lack high-quality protein and healthy fats, the nutrients that your body thrives off of during those busy mornings.
What’s the impact of this? Consuming refined sugar first thing in the morning (this applies to any time of day, but will especially start your morning off on the wrong foot) causes your blood sugar levels to spike too high too quickly, and then drop low once your sugary snack has been digested. When your blood sugar levels drop too low, you start to feel irritable, ravenously hungry and lose your concentration and focus. At this point, you’ll reach for your mid-afternoon sugary snack, in an effort to bring your blood sugar levels and energy back up. Enter the detrimental rollercoaster of refined sugar!
To solve this problem, you must start your day off with proper nutrients. High-quality protein, healthy fats, and fibre rich complex carbohydrates are the not-so-secret ingredients for success here. Here’s a delicious breakfast recipe that includes all of the above, and will keep you full for longer periods of time. Just wait and see if you crave sugar at 3 pm by having this for breakfast (we’re going to bet you not!). Prepare this breakfast the night before in under 5 minutes. You can even bring it to work with you to eat at your desk if your mornings are extremely rushed.
