Illness, gall bladder removal, overuse of antacids, and normal aging can contribute to insufficient secretion of stomach acid, pancreatic enzymes, and bile, and can adversely affect digestive enzyme activity, leading to heartburn, gas, bloating, and other symptoms of gastrointestinal discomfort. For individuals who need a broad-spectrum digestive aid, Thorne Research offers Bio-Gest, which contains HCl, pepsin, pancreatin, and ox bile important for those who need support for protein and carbohydrate digestion, and fat emulsification and absorption.
How to Take
Recommended Dose: Take 1-2 capsules with each meal, or as recommended by a health-care practitioner. For occasional use only. For use beyond 4 weeks consult a health-care practitioner. Do not take this product out of the capsule.
Contraindication: This product is contraindicated in patients with peptic ulcers.
Risk Information: Consult a health-care practitioner if symptoms persist or worsen. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or if you have pancreatitis, pancreatic exocrine insufficiency or cystic fibrosis. Do not use if you are sensitive to pancreatic enzymes. Do not use if you are sensitive to pork proteins. Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain/epigastric pain and/or heartburn have been known to occur, in which case discontinue use (and consult a health-care practitioner).
